Our Values

MySkills campus is a sanctuary for youth at risk and allows them to become responsible citizens via our Holistic Transformation Skills Training. We use a holistic approach that has impacted more than 800 youth over the past 9 years. The training model comprises of Emotional Skills, Life Management Skills, Social Skills and Vocational Skills. The full residential program focuses on 70% of character building and 30% on skills training. The campus location, daily schedule and staff provide an enabling environment for value-based education and market relevant skills training. MySkills students also participate in community work, enterprising for social needs, arts & culture, sports, parent engagement, goal setting and continuous monitoring. Our training program lasts about 2-3 years and we do keep track of our graduates for another year after arranging their job placement.

MySkills Foundation through past 8 years, had undergone critical development to serve the youth at risk community. 2 years of renting two blocks in Taman Tan Yew Lai, Puchong followed by 6 years of renting Kompleks Hentian Pelabuhan Klang (MPK), Port Klang were our learning milestones before stepping into our long-awaited campus. In the year 2014, we acquired 31 acres of building land in Kalumpang, Hulu Selangor from Danaharta to build a campus to foresee larger impact in the intervention for youth at risk.

MySkills Foundation is recognized for its intervention dedicated to youth at risk. In year 2015, World Bank Group together with Economic Planning Unit released a report named “Achieving a System of Competitive Cities in Malaysia- Main Report” in which MySkills Foundation’s work was cited and recommended to be upscaled by the Malaysian Government. In year 2016, Myskills Foundation was also incorporated in Malaysian Indian Blueprint and acknowledged for the campus building which serves a holistic intervention for 1,000 at-risk youths. MySkills was recently awarded by Chinese philanthropic community to receive the prestigious Tan Kah Kee Award along with the late Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay (YTL Corporation).

The strategic public-private partnership is our key to our next sustainable model for the campus. We set futuristic objectives to reduce operating cost and increase internal revenue generation to keep the campus self-sustaining. Zero rental, reduced utility expenses, self-cooking, farming and social enterprises will be the main components in the campus development. One of the social enterprise start-up (MyBakery) won “Entrepreneur For Good” award by Arthur Guinness and British Council which evolved to De’Divive Café that sustained more than 3 years now.

Therefore, by providing multiple facilities, the students are expected to experience diversified training days in the campus that adds value to the character re-engineering. The existing potential in each of the students are developed respectively to ensure holistic human values are formed.

MySkills is a Tax Exempt Charitable organization in Malaysia and also gained US Public Charity status via Equivalency Determination validated by NGO Source for a grant provided LinkedIn for Good and Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
