Our Values

Good+ partners with a national network of social service programs to pair goods — such as cribs, car seats and diapers — with programming such as Early Head Start and Head Start in a way that incentivizes parental engagement while heightening the impact of these services.

The COVID-19 pandemic has made our work more critically important than ever before in our history. The Congressional Budget Office’s 10-year projections forecast that the U.S. unemployment rate will stay above pre-pandemic levels until after 2030, so we find it crucial to our mission that we continue to be a reliable source of basic needs for parents and families.

Since the beginning of the crisis in March, Good+ has distributed $3.5 million worth of goods, including more than 1.8 million diapers, across all five boroughs of New York City. In addition, we have granted $60,000 to provide for immediate needs such as groceries, medicine and rent for around 2,000 individuals.

Good+Foundation is a leading national nonprofit that works to dismantle multi-generational poverty by pairing tangible goods with innovative services for low-income fathers, mothers and caregivers, creating an upward trajectory for the whole family.

After Good+Foundation Founder and President Jessica Seinfeld had her first child, Sascha, in 2000, she began to notice the amount of “stuff” it takes to raise a child, all amounting to staggering costs. She was grateful to have a support system ensuring that she had everything she needed throughout this journey, but it left her wondering how parents without those means could afford the things that a growing child needs. Good+ (then Baby Buggy) started in 2001 when Jessica began collecting gently-used items from friends in New York City whose children had outgrown them. As the daughter of a social worker and the granddaughter of a single mother, Jessica recognized the impact that strategic interventions can have on vulnerable families.

Nearly two decades later, Sascha is in college, and Good+ has scaled up tremendously. We have grown from a local NYC nonprofit that was primarily focused on getting goods to help infants and toddlers to a national operation that distributes new product and uses a two-generation approach to poverty reduction. We distribute this product to a thoroughly vetted national network of partners via a model that incentivizes parental participation in programs such as co-parenting classes, employment assistance, high school equivalency attainment, life skills training and more.

Good+ has provided support to more than 30,000 fathers in cities across the country since increasing our investment in fatherhood. As a result, mothers are getting more support, children are getting greater access to their fathers and men are learning how to become the dads they want to be.
