About Social Mobility Foundation
Below is an overview of the projects we are supporting on the platform, their status as well status updates for projects that have been funded
The Social Mobility Foundation (SMF) work with high-achieving young people from low income backgrounds from all across the UK in the years prior to and during university, and our Aspiring Professionals Programme offers tailored support across 11 career sectors: Accountancy, Architecture, Banking and Finance, Biology and Chemistry, Business, Digital, Engineering and Physics, Law, Media and Communications, Medicine, and Politics.
SMF is a charity which aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people.
The SMF was founded in 2005 by Linkson Jack (who served as Chief Executive until January 2009) in order to provide opportunities, and networks of support for 16-17 year olds who are unable to get them from their schools or families. In the years that have followed our students have experienced great success graduating from university into the professional world with many returning to support younger years. In 2021, we have target offices in 7 cities across the UK, and have expanded beyond our student programme through our work to benchmark and provide guidance to employers and our advocacy and campaigns arm.
