Our Values

NEST is an owner and operator of maternal and children's healthcare facilities in Senegal. We have 2 locations in Dakar, the capital of Senegal, welcoming each year more than 600 births and 16,000 women and children for outpatient care.

NEST is the only healthcare provider in Senegal to have received the International Quality Certification ISO 9001:2015 for every aspect of their operations and processes.

With a staff of 50 employees trained on Quality Management processes, NEST has become a reference in the area of maternal and child care in Senegal.

NEST is seeking to expand their operations by acquiring and improving the operations of existing, practitioner-owned and operated healthcare facilities throughout West/Central Africa.

NEST's mission is to offer quality healthcare to low and middle populations in urban and peri-urban areas of West and Central Africa, through a network of quality certified medical centers.

NEST's founders are both engineers born and raised in a family of doctors. Their father was a renowned paediatrician in Senegal and former National Director of Maternal and Child Health.

They started NEST in 2009, based on the observation that many women in labour struggle to find a safe place to deliver, which results in high mortality rates in developing countries. In Senegal, more than 80% of the population is dependent on public healthcare providers, an overwhelming demand for the limited capacity of the public sector. Meanwhile, private clinics only target the top 10% to 20% of patients in terms of socio-economic status who have good medical insurance.

Inspired by inclusive hospital chains models in India, they started NEST's pilot project in 2011 and a year later were joined by an impact invesment fund. In the two facilities NEST owns, they provide comprehensive medical care for women and children: births, hospitalization, surgery, paediatrics, lab services etc.

The pilot phase was achieved when NEST received the certification ISO 9001:2015 on the entire scope of activity in 2018. NEST's team is now leveraging its more than 10-year experience to build a platform that will allow better access to quality care in the West and Central Africa Region.
