Our Values
Good Shepherd Services goes where children, youth, and families face the greatest challenges and provides resources that build on their inherent strengths to help them thrive. We operate 100 programs, which help over 30,000 youth and family members in struggling neighborhoods throughout New York City. All of our programs are united by a common goal—to create opportunities that help our participants succeed at school, at home, and in their community.

These core values inspire our staff and participants and drive everything we do – including our approach to the work, the decisions we make, and the way we collaborate.
Good Shepherd Services has uplifted communities in New York City since the 1940s. Our work is rooted in that of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd who arrived in New York City more than 150 years ago to help young girls and women who could no longer live at home.
Today, we carry on the Good Shepherd name and we have grown into a nonsectarian organization of diverse backgrounds and affiliations. We’re united in our commitment to provide services to anyone who needs them.
